Here we are on another lovely snowy day in West Central Ohio. It has been snowing all morning and we are expecting a major snow storm this weekend. Yippeee!!! I would much rather be sitting on the beach in Jamaica. Amen?
Last evening we gathered for our second small group study of Francis Chan's book Letters to the Church. The group is made of of a diverse bunch of folks that have come together to learn more about the Lord's plan for His Church. Last week we began by sharing our favorite food, favorite place, fondest memory and our fiercest struggle. The responses of the group were as diverse as the group itself except for one fact. As a group we are not defined by our likes or dislikes, but by who we are in the eyes of Christ. Each of us has been uniquely designed and gifted to work together as the Body and we need to embrace that responsibility.
We also discussed the importance of the Church as it relates to our relationship with the Lord. How do our actions and impact the overall health of the Body? Do we speak poorly of others? Are we critical or compasionate? Do we really care? Do we enter into worship expecting something in return or as an opportunity to thank the Lord for all that he has done? Francis Chan says that, "many people try to change what it means to worship God because they do not want to do what He has asked." Hmmmmmmm?
As you consider your relationship with the Lord and His Bride I would encourage you to prayerfully consider the following: Are you willing to do whatever the Lord asks? If not,why not?
Thanks be to God for His matchless grace!
Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.
